The only good thing about this hotel was the front desk staff. Avoid this hotel at all costs.
This hotel is filthy. They have redone the reception area so it looks hip and clean. But then you get to the rooms and they are gross. Our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The carpet was disgusting. There was hair and standing water in the bathroom sink. The window opened up to an office building. Do not stay at this hotel
The receptionist during the day was very happy and helpful.
At night the black male staff person did not speak English and I discovered a problem with the room service so he could not help. He said he would write a note and inform the staff to help me the next day but he never told them. The cleaning staff threw out two shopping bags with receipts inside and a shoe box with price tag. I needed the bags and reprints to return the shoes and I needed the receipt to reclaim my taxes. As a result of the maid's carelessness I was unable to get my tax back on the purchased items. The hotel was not able to help. I was unhappy with service,
We liked the location and the room furniture which seems to be new. Also the small but new bathroom.
Avoided the breakfast because it was not included but also because it was served in the basement. I hate basements for breakfast.
Central (Opera), friendly and not formal, but substatially a good "all- round" hotel. Very clean, nice and cosy the room to work at the ground floor.
Nothing substantial. Door and windows are not on main streets, but it is a benefit for noise. 4 minutes far from the nearest Metrò...but it is not a problem! Perhaps breakfast could be included for that
location, friendly staff, nice breakfast
small corridors and slow elevator
his location and the staff
1)noise-due to renovation of some rooms 2)very small rooms
Roissy Bus stop at Opera is very close. Lafayette and Printemps is close. Good bakery and groceries are near at hotel.
not perfectly cleaned..almost hurt because of some small pieces of glass on the room carpet. noise from outside.
The location was fantastic, very close to two different metro stations with different lines made it easy to get around Paris by public transport. It is also located within 15 minutes walking distance to the Louvre which was amazing for the price. The room was quite small and not overly fancy but everything worked, the shower had good water pressure and the bed was comfy. There was a little traffic noise from the street however closing the windows solved this problem immediately (although some nights the room was quite warm so needed the window open). Would definitely recommend this hotel to people looking for location with a smallish budget!
Only downfall is no free wifi - you pay 2 euro per 24 hours and have to get a new password from reception each time which was quite frustrating. But other than that everything was great!
The distance to the Louvre was a comfortable 15 min walk. The Opera metro station is just 2 min away and it is connected to the RER in Auber though that is a much longer walk underground.
The day shift operating the counter was not friendly nor knowledgable enough to guide us through the city. Neither was she able to take any feedback on the faults in the room. We had trouble with the TV remote and she insists that it was working alright. Had to wait till the maintenance staff was around and showed to him what is wrong with is and got a replacement. On the other hand, there was another lady in the evening shift who was very attentive, able to remember our room number and give us the key to our room immediately when we return to the hotel. Very courteous and attentive even to the laundry service that we asked for.
Great location: 5 min walk away from Opera (without luggage) Clean, special in their bathroom
Air conditioning was not working and our room was very hot especially at night due to the hot weather during our stay. However we asked for a fan and was given the fan that was used at the reception desk, that being the only fan available.
the location is unbelivably perfect, 10 minute walk to literally everywhere! the louvre, champs elysee, opera, etc. rooms are very small but very very clean and fresh. there is a Monoprix supermarket right on the corner with cheap water and stuff!
no coffee maker or stove or anything!
Good location, no frills.
Small rooms, but hey, it's Paris in July.
I stayed in Room 51 with the balcony and it was just wonderful. The room was a bit bigger than normal and had excellent desk space. The balcony had plenty of room to walk around and for a table and chairs. It was a quiet street and I enjoyed the opportunity to get some fresh air. The best part about the Hotel Volney Opera is the lobby staff. They were extremely helpful, friendly, and professional.
Not too big of a deal but the elevator was out of operation for 2 of the 4 days I stayed. I guess climbing up six flights gave me a bit of exercise.
It's a good Hotel for 3 stars. Perfect location, not far from all historical and tourist palces. Easy to get there from the airport by bus only for 10Euro per person. The room was clean and quite. Really friendly staff. Reasonable price in comparison with other hotels.
